Sports

Sports is an important part of school life. We are grateful to the whaanau who Coach and Manage teams and support all the codes that our tamariki participate in.

Swimming

Swimming is part of our Physical Education Curriculum and all children are required to participate unless they have a note from parents/caregivers excusing them on medical grounds. The swimming season usually commences toward the end of November and finishes early April.

Koopapa

Our tamariki are very fortunate to be able to participate at the annual Tuurangawaewae regatta, paddling and steering on our Tupuna Awa. Teams are made up from our Y4 - Y8 students.

Touch

With support from our whaanau, NPS has been able to participate in the Touch Modules, via Waikato Touch at Paterson Park. These modules are held in Term 1 and Term 4.

Netball

Our tamariki have the opportunity to participate in Netball, via our local: Eastern Waikato Netball Centre, located in Taupiri. This usually plays during Term 2. Our tamariki from our Y0- Y8 classes make up teams,

Sports Camp

Our older tamariki (Y6-7-8) participate in the week long event. Travelling and staying at the camp, experiencing a wide range of sports from Tennis, Petanque, Bowls and Longball to name a few. This camp is held in September at Totara Springs.

Cross Country

All our tamariki participate in this annual event. Our 8yolds and older are involved in the "river side" track. Our U8's have a different short course. And our Takiwaatanga taonga have a small course, within the Puaawai space.

Athletics

Our athletics involves our whole school.
8 Year olds and above participate in a rotation of sports including High Jump, Long Jump, Discus, Shot Put, Sprint events and medium distance runs. Our younger students have modified events, as do our Takiwaatanga tamariki.

Inter School Sports | Cultural Activities

These are held throughout the year with other schools in Ngaruawahia township. Currently our Middle School and Senior School student’s interschool sporting activities include: swimming, touch, netball, athletics, soccer, hockey, kopapa and cross country. The school provides a sport shirt for students.
